    • Reasons why your channel is not big/growing as much as you want

      +4

I have seen a lot of people asking why their channel is not growing fast or how to improve it, and I think there are a few general things that keep turning up and applying to most of these. In general, your channel is not big because:

      A. You have not made very many videos.
      B. You have not been making videos long enough.
      C. You are too young.
      D. Your commentary is just not that interesting (yet).
      E. You just want to make money/become popular.
      F. Your audio/camera quality sucks.
      G. You are not making much original material at all.
      H. You do not have enough patience. Youtube is a long term commitment.
      I. you are not Pewdiepie.
      K. You're not taking it easy

Does anyone else have things to add? We can build this list.

    • And what is the point of this thread? o___o Other than try make people argue?

And yeah, I'm not Pewdie. But umm... Cry isn't Pewdie. Tobuscus isn't Pewdie. Smosh isn't Pewdie... InsertnameofpopularLPerhere isn't Pewdie.

      But they're still successful.

(and yes this coming from a Pewdie fan.)

I do agree with Peachvomit (the vomit actually smells like peaches! WHODATHUNK?!) I think points like E. don't make sense apart from sounding a little jealous. You can become popular without being like Pewdiepie. I mean just look at....thousands of LPers on the internet for example.

    • N. You don't talk enough.
      O. You swear too much.
      P. You use bad tags just to attract people.
      Q. Your voice is eerie.
      R. Your sense of humour is way too personal.
      S. You don't care enough about the subscribers you already have.
      T. You only made subs4subs, making your videos unwatched.
      U. You don't edit your videos enough after recording them.
      V. If you aren't English, your accent/grammar sucks.
      W. You aren't energic enough.
      X. You don't care about your subscribers/viewers feedbacks.

    • I'm actually surprised you'd think I'm trying to start an argument, and genuinely apologize it came across that way! I am being a bit facetious with the "you are not pewdie," but I can take it off to make the list a bit more serious.

The point of the thread is to summarize what I see as a few basic, recurring things that come up over and over: someone asks why they don't have many subscribers or how to make their channel better, and they've only made 5 videos, for example.

    • Those reasons are all valid, however one overrules them all. Luck.

You may have everything perfect, but if you don't have luck you're screwed. Pewds did everything right, but he got famous only around his 400th video.

That leads on perfect to the 2nd most important, persistence. YouTube is not easy, its not a stroll in the park. It will take years, not months or days, in order to find a place. Shit, I know people that have been doing this for 3 years and have 400 subs. I've been doing this for a year and a half and got around 7k subs, I'm grateful for the people who enjoy my videos. I'm grateful for were I am in comparison to many, but that is not were I want my journey to stop. Continuous, high quality, high entertainment videos is what every YouTuber needs to do in order to grow. But again, you also need luck.

Never, ever, be contempt of were you are. For once that happens, you will lose motivation, lose the desire to grow and succeed. But be grateful for were you are at the moment, and the people who enjoy your content.

Be smart. Look at what is missing on YouTube, and fill it with your content.

Be unique, look at everyone else and ask what makes you different? Are you simply a number or someone that is more than that? A personality, an entertainer? Because if your not, then success will not come easily, or at all.

If I sound blunt, its the truth. YouTube will not help you, the majority will pass you by. But one day, something might happen, and that is what we all wish for, but so so few get.

This is just my views, so take them as you please :)

    • I think you should be happy with the subs you got. Set goals for yourself, but smaller goals, not 1k/2k but smaller, 100/200 even 10/50

If you set those goals you'll be glad that you've reached a goal even though it's only 50 subs or something.

      I think.
