I tried to use my PS3 and Xbox 360 controllers with my computer but I can't get it to work, I got the program and everything installed for the PS3 but I don't know how to configure it for the games, and if possible I'd prefer to use my Xbox controller, I don't have a corded controller but I do have the play & charge kit, will that work? Please be detailed and use steps because I really don't know what I'm doing wrong, thanks bros!
How can I use my Xbox 360 or PS3 controller with my PC easily?

Sorry the play and charge kit will NOT WORK with this particular set up. You will actually need a corded XBOX 360 controller.
As for the PS3 controller I used a program called XPadder to set it up. It will emulate the keys so if the game has no controller support. Fire up XPadder and set the buttons on your controller to correspond to the keys for the game. It won't work well if you are trying to use slow movements with the analog stick since you are basically emulating the stick to say "Press W, A, S, Or D" depending on the direction. -

That's what I use with my DS3 controller "Ds3 Tool"

It's a pretty simple to use program. Some googling will get you answers in no time.
Just keep in mind that tutorials in games will think you have an Xbox controller plugged in :P. Oh also, sometimes games don't recognize the controller the correct way the first time. I had this problem with L4D2. It was fixed simply by going into the in game menu of L4D2 and disabling the gamepad, then re-enabling it.
If you have any questions OP I may be able to help -
