In all honesty, I've never been able to actually get into anime.
I can watch few, but I'll either lose interest very quickly, or get sidetracked.
Don't get me wrong; I've had my fair share of Full Metal, InuYasha, Dragon Ball Z, and even Shuffle! (Never finished it though. Got interesting, but then I just like. Idunno.)

What I'm trying to kinda say is that from my limited encounter with anime I'm only able to compose a short list.

1. Elfen Lied. Good god. That movie was deep. Made me cry on multiple occasions

2. Claymore. Played out like InuYasha, just without the faggotry, and Inuyasha yelling for Kagome every 5 minutes.

3. Demon King Daimao. Interesting. Unique. Clever.

4. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Very controversial to some. It was out there, and I enjoyed it, alot.

5. s-CRY-ed. Epic as fuck. Must I say anymore?

And finally Any Studio Ghilbi Film. The guys that produced Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, Princess Mononoke, etc.
