I signed up for this forum a long time ago but never ended up saying anything, but I just remembered it existed and now that the bro community is HUGE I want to finally participate.
My name is Haruka and I was born and raised in Japan as well as established my family there, however we currently live in Utah. I'm not as happy here as my lover Natsuko or our daughter Akemi but it isn't a terrible state if you can sort out the genuinely nice folk from the numerous arseholes. I'm very bookish and love to read and study - I learned English mainly through books at a young age - and literature and film are two of my biggest obsessions and hobbies. However as far as my profession, I am studying human psychology and sexuality as I wish to became a couples therapist, I'm sometimes kind of hopelessly romantic and love seeing people happy together and I want to help people stay together - and I simply find human psychology and sexuality interesting in general, just don't think I'm a perv because I'm really not. That assumption gets made a lot :pinch:.
I like horror movies the most, especially anything David Cronenberg makes. I care more for psychological horror and I also really like the mixture of tragic romance in my horror, that's probably why David Cronenberg's "The Fly" and Takashi Miike's "Audition" are two of my all time favourite horror movies. It takes talent to make me actually care about Jeff Goldblum but dammit Cronenberg somehow made me care for him in The Fly. I also adore Cronenberg's other film "VideoDrome" and while this is more of a dark comedy/WTF-fest - Naked Lunch is also a favourite. Like I said Cronenberg is probably my favourite director. =3 Aside from horror films I like musicals - especially Sweeney Todd and Repo! The Genetic Opera (Best of both worlds, I suppose - gory gothic scenery and great music.) - and I love animated movies, some favourites being Coraline, ParaNorman (A recent fav obviously - underrated film, I'm sad it kinda flopped at the box office), Beauty & The Beast, Up!, and arguably my favourite animated film of all time and the first film I saw in the theatres - Princess Mononoke. I just love all forms of animation, though stop motion is my favourite - quite under used - and I'm attracted to animated films for some reason just as much as I am horror movies.
I've been a Bro since last November. I discovered PewDie when I was in the hospital for 4 months after nearly dying from Pancreatitis, there was a male nurse who I became friends with that was laughing at something he was watching on his tablet while on break and I asked him what it was and he said it was "This funny Swedish guy who freaks out a lot" and I watched it, it was one of his earliest montages, and I immediately fell in love. I started watching PewDie on my phone in the hospital bed, I started with the Ao Oni playthrough, and man - Pewds really helped make those 4 hellish months of being hooked up to at least 3 different tubes a lot more bearable, and I managed to get Natsuko into Pewds too - she'd huddle around my bed and brought a headphone splitter and we'd watch Pewds together, heh. I hope to some day thank him for helping me put up with that hospital stay!
Anyways I've said enough for now, sorry, I'm a bit loquacious. *brofist* Hope to meet many new bros!
