Hardwork, Time, and Luck, and I'd argue enthusiasm for what you do as well. And don't underestimate the power of being interested in other people! I feel as though growing a channel (especially early) isn't just about you making videos. It's about making connections with other people that have similar interests as you. You can make more friends in 2 months by being interested in others than you can in 2 years by trying to get people interested in you.
