You should consider using FPSCreator or Unity for them, they're both great. Or, if you are making a psychological horror (like Home) you could always try ChoiceScript, it's an easy-to-use programming language with which you make games that are based on choices the player makes (I am making a game with it and all you need to know are about 10 to 20 commands).
