I think the new thing is the multiplayer, but they could have made it better just by spawning every player at random positions.

Why not? Well, improve the graphics and atmosphere. But there's lot of potential. Imagine every player starts at a different position, i can imagine i would jump more than once thinking i saw something and in the end it was just another player
