Maybe there could be a mode where you are trying to beat a level in the shortest amount of time with the most points. The short level could be proceduraly generated and stuffed with every idea in this forum! Essentially, the motivation would be trying to set a high score on a leader board. I think this would drive people to come back for more. Also, you should have really open modding for any story or free roaming experience.
