Well, the thing with black screen on amnesia might be pixel shader related. My guess would be to try messing around with the game's settings (it has some sort of .ini right?), or just go for 3DAnalyze or some similair software, which can emulate/disable shaders...

Well, my gaming rig's video card recently died, it was a beautiful geforce 9800gt, about 2x more powerful than geforce gts450 and holds up to today's games nicely. There were artifacts over the screen, at 1600x1200 you couldn't even see a thing, screen was just filled with horizontal bars.
