So from what I recall in an interview with the designer of the game, the Alien supposed to be a new more advanced AI where even when you hide under a desk and you're on his peripheral vision, he'll see you anyway. But based on this video and Ripley wasn't even hiding but the Alien completely missed her when he turned around...I gotta questioned that designer's claim. I can see the game can be really boring in between of finding ways and objectives but I guess it's because the designers wanna make the experience as real as possible.
