    • People always talk about not having time recording and editing to have a consistant publishing schedule.

      So my questions is:
      * What do you guys work with?
      * How does your work/school schedule look like? (Weekdays, weekends, when do you start/end etc.)
      * How do you plan out your recording/editing sessions?

I'm gonna start. I work at a Screen Printing factory, printing everything merch related from t-shirts, hoodies and Tote bags.
I work weekdays (Monday - Friday) from 8AM (08:00) to 4PM (16:00) and is always free during the weekend (Saturday - Sunday).
After work I take the buss and try to get home as fast as I possibly can and then start recording immediately, after I'm done with my first video I import the files from my camcorder, master and save my commentary, Handbreak my gameplay and puts it all in one single folder to have everything nice and organized. After that I record my second video and do the exact same thing.
After that I decide which video I will be uploading first the day after (cause I always work one day ahead) and start editing it, this takes me roughly 1,5-2,5h, render it out, meanwhile the rendering of the video I make the thumbnail in Photoshop which takes me around 15 minutes. Then I always have to wait maybe 15 more minutes for the rendering to be complete.

Once it is complete I start the upload to my channel, schedule it and starts recording the next video, same procedure, usually go to bed around 22:30-00:00 depending on how well everything went and how long videos I made.
Two videos done, every single day, consistant publishing schedule.

Backstory to all this is also that I not that long ago moved to another country and don't know any people,
which right now is great! Been doing YouTube since august and love everything about it and nobody can get in my way when it comes to friends who maybe would like to hang out or anything :D

Dedication is all you need to succeed which I usually tell myself :D

Hope somebody finds this interesting and share their working methods :)
This thread needs to go in a different direction for a while and the people here need to stop thinking about the competition and just enjoy making their content! :D I'm not even in the competition, didn't have and still don't have enough subscribers to have applied :)

Stay rad everybody and have a great and creative weekend!

    • ALright dude I'll answer the questions.
What do I work with ?
If your talking about what I do in general, I'm a Telemedia Production Specialist Major. So most of my time in school, filming short films for film festivals. (Mostly helping editing said film) But usually this takes up about 3 hours on Mon and Wednesday. So most of my other days I spend on my channel. Which most of the time I spend editing. With a large variety that I do, it does get complicated to decide which videos to release.
In the mornings I start with coffee, followed by working on speedpaints or commissions. Following that, I usually have my other computer going on renderings some Voice Work if any are available. I live stream a lot so there goes some time as well. Still rendering videos at that point. Edit my online comic, chat with other youtubers, and VAs. When I play games I do long sessions from 6-pm-12am and that usually ends my day, and it repeats usually everyday. Except for the weekends, where i exclusively, have pre scheduled videos up, so I can work on vlogs,, script writing for asmr videos, working on cosplays, etc.
And thats about it for your questions, ^u^.

      Awesome!! :D
It's always interesting to know what YouTubers do besides YouTube :D It's cool that you work with editing and filmmaking and then also do it on your freetime :)
Also how they schedule their work, nice of you to share your methods :)
Besides work and doing YouTube I also scream in a band, feels like most of the people who do YouTube have lots of other creative projects on the side :D Nice seeing that there's so many active and creative people :)

      Stay rad!

Oh how awesome would it be to actually win this.

It could change your life quick. I know I am not the most active YouTuber but winning this would change that for sure. I could only imagine. Never the less, good luck to whoever wins. And thanks PewDiePie for doing this contest.

I wish more bigger YouTubers would help out smaller channels. #Brofist
I know that thought of thinking that you don't upload enough videos to be able to be chosen kills me as well, in fact i think that drags me down a lot xD Well i hope at least pewds will notice how hard its to make this kind of videos and he will understand :D
My upload schedule is atrocious but that's due to lack of motivation and just how long it takes to make one of my videos. I make Minecraft machinimas and it takes like 2 hours to film and build sets and then 5-7 hours to edit... So yeah, you could say I have no chance :/
aw, well it takes me like one hour to record and like 12+ hours to edit xD but its quite hard to upload more than one video a when i am in the last year of high school and i got a girlfriend in another country, so pretty much my time its like full and i barely find time to make videos xD

      ....
University, I'm studying techn. physics which takes up a lot of time. Going to university every day from 8am to 5pm plus having to study after that and do exercises we have to finish 'till the next week plus working out but during the weekends I'm usually free when not visiting my parents which I do almost every other week.
Which then again makes me feel stressed out a.k.a not the best vibe for a video.
As for planing out, I write down all my ideas at any given time, sometimes even a whole script and then when I get a good vibe and I'm at home I film 2 of them (which is just perfect for the battery time) so I basically don't have a set recording session because people realize that I'm in a bad mood and that makes the whole video crap.
I do have a series called in a nutshell for which I gather all the information throughout the whole month while surfing the Internet but that's beside the point.
And I edit the footage in my studying breaks and obviously when I'm not tired because sleeping is my second name :D
But the editing takes a lot of time because I ramble around so much (4min video equals around 1.5 hour footage) which makes the end product look more natural than scripted out videos so I stick to that.
And then I upload as soon as I get to it. But bare in mind I got a crappy laptop so rendering takes an extra hour and our upstream sucks so basically another hour of uploading.
Doesn't sound like much but my main problem is I need to prefilm more videos when I get the vibe (which is why I got another battery pack) because my videos are just me standing there and talking. And there's so many videos I didn't end up uploading because I looked so down and depressed which obviously I don't want on my channel.
But other than that you're right, dedication is the key. :)
    • Hi, Felix
I believe that your Competition is Probably over. But Here I go anyway, I started a YouTube Channel Not to long ago and I know how hard it is to gain an Audience. I am 19 Years old ATM and taking a gap Yer from Uni to try and do something I like doing witch is creating content for Gamers to Enjoy and Hang out !
So My Channel is not 100% gaming but most of it is. I Recently got a New Microphone witch enables me to create better sounding content.
So without anything Further: I Found a Bra | FireWatch #1

      Thank You
      Best Regards

    • Hello Felix!!
I Have no idea if this is still going but my channel has upgraded a lot in my opinion.
Now I might not be the best channel on youtube but from what i heard and saw from other people they say that i have upgraded my content to a whole other level. Now I do not upload consistently because I have to go to school and I also have a job so time for me is very tight when it comes to youtube. But when I do post I give it my all. I go crazy when I edit and I make sure that the video and audio quality is the best there can be. I also make sure that my thumb nails are spot on with all sorts of details. I do this whole process because like what I said I do not upload consistently so I want to give my audience something that is really entertaining and something that can be watched over and over again without it getting old so I have time to work and get my grades up for school because that is really important.

Anyways I dont even know if this still going on but if it is I know that I am probably not going to win But i am keeping my hopes up and I also give all the luck in the world to the other contestants!!!:D

    • Hey,
I'm posting for some feedback on our channel, would love to be considered for a shoutout (Although I know at the moment we aren't good enough.).
Three of us that are now housemates have come together to create a channel that could have everything from taste tests to gameplay's.

We have been watching Felix for many years and even if we have missed the deadline for this shoutout competition would love feedback from The Bro himself.

      Any criticism is very appreciated.

      Thank you

Alright took I look at your channel. Because why not, I can give you some feedback.
For your Dead Space 2 play through the webcam video is to big, blocks a good portion of the game. Your audio is a bit to loud, and should go through a noise reduction on your audio recording software. That is a nice microphone, but if you dont edit your audio, the microphone is going to waste.
Your interacting with the game, but try to interact with your audience as well. I've played Dead Space 2 as well, so I know its pretty difficult.
And try to make thumbnails that capture said audience's attention.
And that is about it , Good Luck!
