    • Guest Accounts

This is a (hopefully) simple suggestion/ request. Guest accounts for the forums and for the chat. This is to help get newbies to feel like it's less work in trying to get interested in the site and the community as a whole.

The idea is like a whole different section/category on the forums for guest accounts where EVERYONE can post in, guest and members alike, but the normal forum only members can access. This will allow them to chat and get used to the site without needing to register right away, and the same goes for the actual chat.

Secondly to push people into registering and not staying on a guest account, limit stuff like obviously avatars, make it where they cannot browse for posts via ch bar and where they cannot look up other members, and at the very most, a time limit an IP/etc can be on a guest account for before being forced to register. Allow it to also add their names only in the topic posts/comment posts.

A lot of people, A LOT, are not interested in inventing even the short time it takes, into making accounts, and are not interested in investing time to know the community after doing so. I feel this way it'll allow a whole new number of people to communicate without registering, by letting them get to know the site and it's community prior.

    • The possibilities for that are there, although it needs to be discussed in detail. The issue with guest accounts is that it's opening the gates for spam a bit more and that it's harder to track the people that post.
We paid attention to making sign up as simple and fast as possible, which is why you can just use Facebook/Twitter/Google/Steam and so on to login, most people that sign up already own an account on one of those services, especially since Google accounts are used for YouTube.

Wouldn't it be helpful to have a captcha when using a guest account each time they post? It would make it where people would want to register just to get rid of that.

Yes, that's a must for anything guest-related anyway. However captchas can be worked around in certain ways (not easily, but still).
