As many of you know, we are merging with Maker Studios on their new site. It is something us here at Pewdiepie.net and Maker Studios are both excited about. We met with them last week to discuss a few things, get familiar and see the site’s progress so we know what we are getting ourselves into.
What does this mean for the forums? Onwards and upward, the forums WILL remain, the site will undergo some changes, mostly for the better, and the staff will undergo some minor changes.
The Maker Studio site will have a specific Pewdiepie section, in which videos will be uploaded first, then to youtube, so all visitors to the site will be seeing the videos first, and be able to comment separately from youtube. As well as that, there will be exclusive content, a fan content section, contest section, and likely a section for events, one’s hosted by us here at Pewdiepie.net as well as others. The livestreams will become a more regular thing, and Pewdiepie will be around more often than he is now!
The site will have a tab that leads to the forums, meaning we will have lots more users active, and lots more new. I ask you as a friend, please, don’t be a pain to the new kids, we were all new once, even me. And I tell you as a mod, we will be adopting a zero tolerance policy to it. All rules will be stricter, and the rules section will be updated accordingly.
One major change that will be coming is the likely removal of the Youtube section of the forums. We get a huge amount of submissions for threads every day, with a wide variety of channels. While this has been manageable with the user load we have right now, when the forums are linked to the Maker Studios site, it’ll be a huge problem. It’s not something we can automate, and the team would like to spend more time talking with users, sorting other issues, and generally being around.
That being said, from the start, Maker Studios have said they wish to preserve the community we have created, most changes will go through the team before they go live. So don’t worry too much, we’ve got your backs, and we’re willing to go the extra mile to keep it an easy transition for you all.
We will keep you updated as much as we can!
Over and out!
