  • I need just a tad bit of halp getting Amnesia to play on my PC

Okay, so I am wanting to download Amnesia to play on my computer, but of course I downloaded the demo first to see how it would work. And every time I try to get it to play, it comes up with an error stating: "FATAL ERROR: Renderer #0 could not be initialized! Make sure your graphic card drivers are up to date. Check log file for more information." wahhh, please help me...I just want to play it now...please help meee.

How do I update this graphics card majigger that i need so badly?

I saw on steam that the system requirements were:
    • OS: Windows XP/Vista/7 CHECK
    • Processor: 2.0Ghz - Low budget CPUs such as Celeron or Duron needs to be at about twice the CPU speed CHECK
    • Memory: 2 GB CHECK
    • Hard Drive: 3GB CHECK
    • Graphics: Radeon X1000/GF 6 - Integrated graphics and very low budget cards might not work.***** .....MAYBE NOT CHECK?****
  • Hm , i am not specialist at all but when i checked some google findings about this error , its lookslike it is pretty common on weak integrated graphics cards :( . I dont want to be a messanger of bad news but i really cant find method to do something about it with 100% success . There are some threads on Fricitonal games forum about problem . One of the possible solutions can be to set graphic options in amnesia to lowest .There may be a spark of hope in downloading latest drivers for your graphic card because several peoples post that this helps them . Problem is that some integrated graphic cards doesnt support Opengl (at least that is what they saying on Frictional Games) . I finded this on FG forum , try to check it :

The game uses OpenGL which is more rare especially at older or lower-end graphics cards like Intel ones for example. Basically, your graphics card needs to support OpenGL 2.1 or more. Anything below 2.1 will fail to work.

In order to know what OpenGL version your graphics card supports go to:

    My Documents\Amnesia\Main (Windows XP)
    Documents\Amnesia\Main (Windows Vista & 7)

and open the file HPL.log. Go to Initializing Graphics Module section and check Version. If it reports 2.1.0 or more then you should be able to run the game.

    I hope this help ...
But like i said , i am not expert so maybe there is other solution and i really hope it is . :)

Sorry for my bad english btw :P
  • Following solution obtained from here

Read the error again, break it into sentences...It's telling you EXACTLY what is wrong.

    fatal error: something bad
Renderer 0: which renderer had the error
could not be init: again, something went wrong

"MAKE SURE YOUR GRAPHIC CARD DRIVERS ARE UP TO DATE" -- that means, make sure your graphic card drivers are up to date!

Check log file for more information: That means if you don't understand, then find the log file and see if that has more information.

So, granted, it's a tech savvy instruction to 'update your video card drivers' -- which we are happy to help with! -- Your computer either has an ATI or NVidia, or 'other' graphics driver -- they are easy to identify by checking your computer device manager.
    1) Right click my computer (this may be in the start menu as "computer")
    2) Properties
    3) Device Manager
a new window will open -- look for your "Display Adapter" or "Graphics Adapter"
I for example have an Nvidia G-force GT130.
Find your model number, and google the manufacturer's website (probably ati.com/support , nvidia.com/support, etc...
Find the 'driver installer' on the manufacturer website, and download the one that matches your part number...install.

TL;DR, Basically jut find out your GPU details, and update the video drivers.

If that doesn't work, it means that the game is not able to run on your current GPU base.
