The issue with Corel is that unless you specifically tell it NOT to, it will darken everything when you insert an image. If you go in to the EDIT section of the image when you've laid it in there, you should be able to put a Mask/Chroma on it to change how it's displayed. I change the shape of the image border itself, honestly, and it works just fine. If that doesn't work, drown it out in black text. I use Corel myself... anyway...
