We're not dead, yet. We've had a huge number of updates and a lot of things to update everyone on! Graphical Update This first update is a complete revamp of the mapping for Spirit Timer, we felt that although the maps looked amazing as is, we wanted to bring the darker side of our maps out more, make them more "grittier". if that's the word for it. but anywho...we'll just let the maps speak for themselves: 14620_27042.jpg 14620_27046.jpg 14620_27044.jpg I'll be adding more to the screenshots, s…

You'll have to play the game to find out. Diary%20Screen.png As you progress through the g…

  • Quote from Kerrima: “I'm struggling to get something working in my game. Basically, I want the player to fall over when they die, instead of it going straight to the Game Over screen. I'm pretty new and I don't know the options well. How can I add a death animation to the player? done.” To do a death animation, you need to create a second sprite, which uses a downed spriteset. Then what you do in the editor is use the Change Character Graphic event. T6QQpH9aMqOsmPKg-EventCommands.png Once you've…

I'm back again with even more music now! I'm now releasing free tracks once a week for people to use in non commercial projects. Keep an eye out here to see when the latest tracks have been completed Also I'm in the progress of creating a dark fantasy resource pack that will be available for commercial useage for Indie Game Developers who don't have the biggest of a budget. To see how that is coming along and too see examples of what content to expect visit here

  • Be very careful, with using the RTP in another project, even if it IS just a placeholder. There are other resources similar to the RTP that you can use instead. such as the First Seed Material, which can be used in any engine. Some of the stuff you are using is from an artist known as Celianna, and she requires that you use the RPG Maker Engine and NOT a custom engine. but FSM is free for all commercial/non commercial and non RPG Maker engines. So for your own legal safety, check out FSM as an a…

  • We've got around 90% of the maps completed, the eventing for the project is about 70% complete for the demo itself, but we've got about 40% of the eventing left for the entire game itself. Garden%20Home.png and then: New%20Map.png and here is another in game screenshot of one of the final maps in the game, this one isn't quite finished yet Penultamate%20Map.png We'll hopefully have a demo by around 20th May (perhaps before...if the Beta Tests go well :D)

Thanks for your kind words, I'm actually working on a commercial music pack which will mean that developers who use the RPG Maker Engine will be able to purchase a licence to use my music in their games. I'm just finishing off the futuristic pack at the moment. I should hopefully be done in a few days I really love seeing my music in other people's project. If you are looking for an example of my music IN an actual project there is a game called ENIGMA in which two of my tracks (one of which is …

  • You can find a selection of good scripts for a horror game here's a couple that I've found useful in the past: Victor Engine - Fog Effects: Helps create really beautiful Fog and Light Effects: (Hidden Content) Light Effects: Similar to the one that Kerrima mentioned, however I personally prefer Victor Saints version, it's abit more advanced, and provides better, clearer effects in my opinion. Also can use it to create torches. lanterns etc. *ATS: Special Message Codes: Includes a link to an enti…

  • My suggestion to you, is to use the tint screen event option. It adds a better atmosphere.

So I'm looking to branch out a little more, so I thought I'd show off abit of my music. I'm not the most well known here, so I'm more likely to get more honest feedback. So here we go: I've been writing music for around 4 years now, and recently started putting myself up to hire for music. I'm currently working in a few game projects all game using the RPG Maker Game Engines, as I basically live (and work) on the RPG Maker Forums. Fantasy Style Tracks: Violin & Choir: One of my more recent track…

  • The only advantage with XP is the mapping system. VXA is faster, simpler, easier, more powerful. More customization, Character Generator, the list continues.

  • Should I "quit" my real job?

I might not be the most active member on the forum, so I dunno how much my opinion will count, but I've had personal experience... I have been in your position before. I really would suggest quitting or take a hiatus as the most important thing in my opinion is ensuring that you stay healthy. I was working full time in a pub kitchen, alongside a full time 30hr college course. I ignored all warnings from my actual college lecturers stating that I shouldn't work full time and complete 5 A levels a…

  • Okay that is nice and complex First of all you need to ensure you know the position of both the player, and the monster. To do this you assign variables to it like so: PnNlBaS2O4HGpjX0-Region.png Now, once you've done that all you need to do is when the monster(in my events case, the ghost) and the player is in the same spot. You activate a game over: fV4IAvXJfY4QoRk9-Region.png This all goes ABOVE what you've already written of course

  • It all depends on what style of game you are trying to develop. For example: Are you trying to: Scare the shit outta the player confuse the player so much it scares them If you wanna scare the shit outta the player, then you need to use atmosphere, use tint screen and BGM to your advantage. If you wanna confuse the player so much it causes them to doubt themselves, then what you wanna do is make them think they are safe, or are at risk, add abit of randomization using Conditional Branches and Va…
